When you go to the library, there are typically self-service checkout machines if the library is fairly large.  There is usually one big line-up where people have their books checked out by a librarian.   Next to that long line-up, there are several self-service checkout machines available to use.  The line-up for those machines tend to be shorter.

Instead of lining up to have your books checked out by the librarian, check them out using the self-service machines instead.  Doing so will save you time.

If you feel that the self-service machines are hard to use, that shouldn't be a problem.  Each machine has been designed with a user-friendly interface and is easy to use.  It's usually a touchscreen interface where you touch the buttons with your finger.

The screen is filled with easy-to-read instructions that show you how to use the machine.  There may also be pictures and even animations that show you how to check out your books.

At one of the libraries I go to, to check out books at the self-service machine, you put your library card under the red light.  Then you put the books under the red light one by one.  After that, you press a button and a receipt prints out for you.  It's that easy.

After trying out the self-service machines a few times, you'll quickly get the hang of it.  Then you'll never need to wait in a long line-up to have your books checked out by a librarian.  You can simply use the self-service checkout machines instead.  You'll save a lot of time from doing so.
