Meditation is a science to help man to control his thoughts and bring about peace and tranquility in life. It is a holistic approach to a deeper state of awareness. It should be practiced daily to achieve good results. There are different school of thought, some advocate free flow of thinking and then to attain a second of calmness in the duration of 20 minutes. Some schools believe in disciplining the mind from thoughts to attain the desired result.
Basic meditation – A guide to get started
In the modern times, economic stress and highly competitive life has evolved man to live like machine. Emotion or relationships are losing ground in the family life. To break loose from the lifestyle disorders, it is necessary to free one's mind to get a clear perspective or focus life.
This is exactly what meditation can do with practiced meticulously. Meditation cannot be taught like other form of fitness excercises but it is an art of self discipline. All you have to do is wear loose fitting clothes and take a comfortable position with your back straight to enable you to breathe deeply and evenly.
Initially the concentration should be on your breathing – deep inhaling and exhaling in a rhythm. The mind tends to wander and myriad of positive and negative thoughts flow in and out. Gradually the mind strengthens itself to control the strained thoughts. A sense of calmness with a rhythmic breathing expels all the stress, clutter, anxiety and anger. The day is endowed with joy and harmony.
Breathing Technique
To get going you have to place your hand on the abdomen to feel the breathing. By deep inhaling and exhaling, you can feel the air getting into the lungs and going out. During this exercise some realize that they have been breathing wrongly due to stress or certain medical conditions. Once the individual gets acquainted to the deep normal breathing, he would be introduced advanced breathing techniques which would help in the total transformation of the individual. It can help certain health and psychological conditions and achieve a mind and body balance. A healthy body is an outcome of a healthy mind. It can be skillfully developed to gain mental strength to withstand the tornado of life.
