Vitamins are essential to a properly working body. If we do not get enough of the proper nutrients, our bodies won't function properly. Most people think about how vitamins affect their immune system and eyesight. A lot of people do not think about the correlation between vitamins and hair loss. There are many vitamins for hair loss. Having these vitamins will ensure that you keep the hair you have and can even help in having new hair grow in. Probably the most important vitamins for hair loss are the B vitamins. These vitamins include B6, biotin, niacin, panothenic acid, folic acid and inositol. All of these vitamins are essential for proper hair growth. Studies have shown that rats low in some of these vitamins became completely bald. Other studies showed that men who were low in B vitamins became completely bald as well. However, the studies also showed that with excess B vitamins, they regained their hair. And this makes sense when you think about pregnancy. When women are pregnant, they take prenatal vitamins, rich in nutrients, but especially B vitamins such as folic acid. And this gives them thick beautiful hair, like some have never had in their life. Another very essential vitamin for reversing hair loss is Vitamin C. This vitamin makes sure that there is plenty of blood flow to the hair follicles and blood is what carries the nutrients to the hair. So in a nutshell, vitamin C helps get the B vitamins to the hair. Vitamin E is great for improving immune health and blood circulation, which will also help with hair loss. Magnesium, zinc, copper and silica are all also essential to maintaining healthy hair. Iron and protein are also vital to hair health. The main component to hair is protein. So now that you know what your body needs to help fight hair loss, you need to know how to get these nutrients. The first thing to do is to make sure that you eat a balanced diet that is low fat and high protein. A good choice for lean protein meats is fish. Fish is a great choice because it also contains omega 3 fatty acids, which have been shown to help maintain healthy hair and also with many other functions of the body. Remember to eat lots of fruits and veggies, as this is the best way to get these vitamins in your food. A good rule of thumb when eating fruits and vegetables is to go with lots of different colors. They each have their own specific nutrients they will give your body. A good thing to keep in mind though is that excessive amounts of vitamin A can actually cause hair loss. Just having a balanced diet is not enough to ensure that you get the right amounts of certain nutrients. So find a good multivitamin that is made to promote healthy hair. This will ensure that you get all the vitamins necessary to keeping your hair and can even help get back the hair you have lost.
