In these days when living almost always means dealing with deadlines, quotas, credit limits and making ends meet, everyone has got to live with stress. As a matter of fact, when you stick a stress-o-meter to every 9-to-5 person, you would probably see that almost everyone is walking around with their own stress and anxiety burdens.

The fact that stress and stress-induced conditions are becoming prevalent in today's fast-paced society poses a problem with regard to the detection of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Most people dismiss the thought of excessive-worrying-as-a-disorder and continue with their routine, oblivious to the existence of a treatment; and at the same time very aware of the burden that they are carrying.

That is why it is important to learn about the symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). This way, you'd know whether you are a 'normal' worrier or if it's about time you find out whether you can relieve yourself some of the anxiety that you have been constantly bearing. GAD can be caused by a number of reasons. Consequently, it may manifest itself in various ways. It can be caused by hormonal imbalance, nutritional problems, stress or trauma, among others. The symptoms can be physical or psychological in nature.

The physical symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder are nausea, muscle aches and cramps, insomnia, comparatively low stamina and vision problems. The psychological symptoms are inexplicable feelings of dread, loss of concentration, edginess and irritability, visions of catastrophe that cannot be controlled as well as an elevated fear of rejection.

While all these are not likely to appear or occur simultaneously, you will notice that a combination of even half this list of symptoms is enough to disrupt the life of whoever suffers from the disorder. Some people may have considerable higher thresholds for stress and anxiety, but others might not find it as easy to ignore these symptoms.

The truth is, there are worries and there are worriers. In the case of people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, where anxiety and fear is amplified, it is even more important to find a way and reduce anxiety to a more manageable level. It can only be done by evaluation, monitoring, diagnosis and treatment. While no one will be happy to find out that he is suffering from a disorder, no matter how common, it can also be viewed as a first step towards acquiring a cure, and not having to live with excessive and uncontrollable worrying every day for the rest of your life.
