Is it possible to replace hair that has been lost a long time ago? The answer is yes. To help explain how this can be possible we are going to look at replacing lost scalp hair in men. We are going to look at hair loss in men for hair loss is more serious in males than in females. This is true for hair loss in women is usually characterised by thinning, while that in men is usually characterised by patches.

There are many ways to replace lost scalp hair. The first method that is commonly used and is currently gaining huge popularity is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is the treatment of a disease or a condition by means of chemicals or drugs. In the case of scalp hair you can use drugs such as finasteride, minoxidil and avodart. These drugs are available in the form of capsules and topical creams. The function of these drugs is to stimulate hair follicles that have entered the catagen and telogen phase back into the anagen phase. These drugs also stimulate increased red blood cell production in the scalp region. Increased red cell production in the scalp promotes increased cellular activity which will result in increased hair growth, as well as waking up follicles that had gone to rest.

Another method of replacing lost scalp hair is through hair transplant. Hair transplant is an almost guaranteed method of replacing hair that has been lost a long time ago. In this method portions of hair are cut out to extract active hair follicles. These active hair follicles will then be transplanted to parts of the scalp that have no hair growth. The hair are transplanted by perforating micro holes through the skin on the scalp in which the follicles are then placed. The hairs that will be present in the follicles will soon fall out due to shock experienced by the follicle. However, after a period 2 or 3 months, the hair follicles will establish themselves firmly and will start to produce hair strands again.

Another method of replacing scalp hair is by the use of natural remedies and techniques. There are some herbal remedies that have been designed to treat baldness that boost hair growth through the elimination of toxins. Some of these include herbal remedies such as procerin. Procerin acts against dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This herbal remedy inhibits the enzyme that catalyses the synthesis of DHT, thus reducing its level in the blood. Other herbal remedies help stimulate increased red blood cell production in the scalp which will result in new hair growth. Other methods that are natural but may prove to be costly include massages, acupuncture and laser treatment. Massages help relieve the body from stress. Stress affects the body in such a way that it will cause it to release excess amounts of certain hormones, some of which will cause hair loss. Laser treatment and acupuncture increase the supply of blood and red blood cells to the scalp, thus boosting hair re-growth.
