Many women use the silent treatment with their spouse after an argument to show their anger about the situation. Women are typically much more emotional than men which is why men often make the mistake of saying or doing the wrong things that trigger a woman's anger even more. The silent treatment tactic often leaves a man much more confused and left wondering "why won't my wife talk to me?" Continue to read through this article to discover how to decipher the real issues and get your wife to open the lines of communication.

Initial Steps You Can Take Starting Now

The following are steps that you may take into consideration while your wife refuses to talk to you. Remember, this is her way of dealing with her anger so don't take it personal and lash out. It will only make matters worse.

1. Give her the space she needs. Right now, she is fuming, which is why she has gone into silent mode. Try not to pester her or make small talk because it may come across as you not acknowledging what went wrong. She needs the breathing room and it also gives you both time to cool down and think rationally again.

2. Make plans for making up by going out to buy a nice card, flowers, or something that she loves. It doesn't have to be a big gift, in fact, a small thing that she likes may mean much more than an extravagant gift. It will show that you pay attention to her even with the smallest of things and want to make her happy.

3. Prepare yourself to listen to her when she's ready to talk. Don't chime in while she's letting you have it. Let her get it all out of her system and then tell her that you understand and want to resolve the problem. Truly, she wants you to listen and understand and you can prove it by not forcing your opinions in every chance you get.

Don't Let the Silent Treatment Lead to Divorce

Unfortunately, many husbands do not take the time to decipher what is truly going on in their relationship. Did you know that statistics show a whopping 41% to 50% of first marriages end in divorce? That is why it is crucial to nip marital problems in the bud when signs are showing trouble.

Take the necessary steps to get your marriage back on track before the silent treatment leads to filing for divorce. It happens all too often and you can help prevent it by following up on the critical resource below linked in my bio.
