It's important to know exactly what causes pimples and gain a better understanding of them in order to seek any type of pimples treatment or, in worst cases, to seek professional help.

When people refer to acne or pimples, in the majority of cases they're usually talking about whitehead pimples, which form into a yellowish-white pus-filled tiny sac on the top of the skin.

Your body has thousands upon thousands of small skin pores which contain oil glands. In acne sufferers, these skin pores can become clogged up with excess oil as well as dead skin. Once this occurs, the skin surrounding the skin pore can become infected causing that yellowish-white pus plug we've all come to hate, known as a "whitehead."

So, what causes pimples, and how can we prevent them from occurring?

Unfortunately, if acne suffering run in your family, chances are you will experience the same fate. Heredity plays a major role in determining who is most likely to suffer from acne; if either your mother or father had pimples it's because their body probably had a tendency to over-produce oil in their skin and their body didn't react favorably enough to be able to fight them off naturally.

Another common cause of pimples is too much stress; this tends to cause bodies to throw hormones totally out of whack, making your body secrete too much oil through your glands, which in turn, causes pimple outbreaks.

Some medications can also adversely affect you to the point where they become the causes of pimples, but take comfort in knowing once you're off the medication, the outbreaks will stop!
