Understanding Meniere's Disease
Meniere's disease is a condition that is caused by excessive fluid production in the inner ear, or more precisely an imbalance in the amount of fluid between the two ears. When the amount of fluid is the same in both ears you should have no symptoms and everything is in balance and works correctly. When the fluid in your ears is out of balance you will experience vertigo, ringing in the ears, a fullness and loss of hearing in the ear that has excess fluid.
One of the hallmark signs that differentiates Meniere's disease from other conditions such as tinnitus is the fact that it is intermittent and comes in clusters. These clusters may go on for days or weeks, but each cluster does not normally last more than a few hours.
