When it comes to tinnitus, it is inevitable that at some point in your life you will experience it. Even if it just for a short period of time, chances are you will hear some type of ringing in your ears. On the average it only lasts for a few seconds; however, there are some that have this problem all the time to the extent where they never get any relief from it. This problem known as tinnitus can also be caused by a more serious problem. Anxiety has been known to do some strange things to the body and that includes ringing in the ears. People who already have an ailment such as anxiety or panic attack disorders can have different and more severe forms of ringing in ears. Tinnitus is not only an effect of anxiety, it also can be associated with many other ailments such as blood pressure and high cholesterol elevations. If you are experiencing any ringing in the ears, you should have a test done to see if you are at risk for blood pressure or high cholesterol. The blood vessels specifically collect cholesterol deposits and this can cause a blockage if you are not treated in time. These blockages are more prone to gather near the ear. Blood pressure can skyrocket as the blood tries to force its way through these obstacles. There are symptoms that are less severe than the ones mentioned before; sinus problems and allergies are prone to cause ringing of ears because of the over abundance of mucous buildup. This can easily be treated with antihistamines and antibiotics. With any type of health problem though, you should never treat one less seriously than the next. Further problems can also cause your ears to ring. Presbycusis or other age related hearing problems, muscle tension, temporomandibular joint disorder, vitamin B12 deficiency and thyroid disorder are bound to cause ringing. Atherosclerosis is another form of tinnitus but this form is the rarest. All other types of tinnitus are where only the patient can hear it. With this rare type however, others can hear it with the help of a stethoscope. When you use a stethoscope and put it to the ear or the back of the ear, this will help you to hear the sounds for yourself. This indicative form is caused by structural damage done to the inner ear itself. This is a rare but serious problem; you can hear the sounds of your pulse and the blood rushing through the vessels. Tinnitus takes on many forms and differs from person to person and sound to sound. There are no treatments that can cure tinnitus. These ringing, buzzing, beeping, whining, popping or crackling sounds can be very bothersome. You may want to find a way that you yourself can reduce or eliminate these sounds. Try to use a different background sound to drown them out. No amount of homeopathic treatments, acupuncture or hypnosis can help you get rid of this problem.
