At first, the idea of turning your back on something, and success may not seem to go together. However, depending on the situation, they can go together very well. Let me explain. Success is about focus, and determination to reach a goal by a given time, and then another and so on. However, how often have you voiced your goals to people, only to find they they have come back and said something like "Oh, but you can't do that because of...".

Naturally, there are plenty of people who are willing to give you the benefit of their well meaning advice. In more cases than one, you will find it is more a problem with their belief in you, rather then necessarily with you. Equally, I should note there are many people who will be right behind you encouraging you the whole way. However, from my experience, it can often times, be better to be a quiet achiever. By this, I mean that you simply start to get on with your goals, and working towards them. Whilst you may need to confide in some people, keep it on a need to know basis. This way, no one that may have doubts about you or your ability will be able to affect your belief in yourself. I don't mean to offend, but sometimes, these so called well meaning people can be like a cancer to you. They steal your zeal, and your dreams.

To be fair, in many cases, the people who tell you it can't be done, or it's too hard, will just tell you that, because they have little faith in them selves as well. The other possibility is that they are worried you will succeed, and stand out above them. I know it sounds crazy, but at least consider this advice. Work out your desires, goals, and a general time frame. Then just get to work. I often work on a need-to-know basis, and thus, limit the negative influence of others who may affect my concentration, and goals.

Another way to look at this is that you need to stand up for your convictions, and belief systems. If you have an idea, then you deserve to go as far as you can with. It is not so much about other people's agreement, but about your convictions. If you take the time to think about it, I think you will be able to find many examples where people have had their ideas blown out in smoke, because too many people told them about all the difficulties they may experience, or the seeming impossibility of something. Let em assure you that every big invention we enjoy today, faced tremendous difficulties in the beginning. Just look at flight. Did the first efforts at flying a plane work? I think we both know the answer to that one. Believe me, believe in yourself, and follow your heart.
