What Does A Thigh Lift Do?

Are you always complaining about your thighs?  Are your thighs an area that you focus on during your workouts, but nothing seems to help?  Do you avoid certain types of "clingy" materials, because your thighs just can't handle the "cling?"  Well….a thigh lift can help solve all of these problems and make you feel a whole lot better about yourself. A thigh lift removes excess skin and fat from the thighs.

Who Can Get A Thigh Lift?

Thigh lift surgery is not a replacement for diet and exercise, nor is it considered a weight loss procedure.  A thigh lift is for people who are healthy and have a stable weight history.  The results of thigh lift surgery can last a lifetime when maintained through proper diet and continued exercise.

Does Thigh Lift Surgery Hurt?

Like any surgical procedure, there is bound to be some discomfort following your procedure.  The procedure involves an incision starting at the groin and following around to the back of the thigh.  The surgeon will then work with the fat, tissue and muscles to smooth the skin and ensure the area is well proportioned and remove any excess skin and fat before pulling the skin tight and closing the incision with stitches.

When your surgery is over, you will more than likely need to wear a compression bandage to ensure that everything stays in place.  You could need to wear this for up to two weeks after your surgery.  You will also have some moderate discomfort.  You and your surgeon will discuss the best methods of pain control for you.  You may also have small tubes for drainage for a short time after your surgery.

You will experience bruising and swelling for up to two weeks.  The scars from the surgery will typically be hidden by your clothes, but there is the risk of having visible scarring.  There is also the risks of bleeding, infection, numbness and risks associated with anesthesia which will be used for your procedure.  The risk for actually having a complication associated with thigh lift surgery is small.

It is important to follow up as recommended by your surgeon in order to ensure long lasting results.

How Do I Get Started?

If you think a thigh lift is for you, your first step is to select a qualified plastic surgeon.  After carefully choosing your surgeon, you will have a consultation visit where you will plan your surgery.  You and your doctor will determine specific method for your thigh lift, including the exact location of your incision, the type of anesthesia you will have for your procedure, the type of pain control medication you will have after your surgery, and you can ask any questions that you have regarding the procedure such as when you can return to work and when can you resume your normal activities.
