Temperament is the combination of treats we inherited from our parents. No one knows were it resides, but it seems to be somewhere in the mind or emotional centre (often refered to as the heart). From that source it combines with other human characteristic to produce our basic makeup. Most of us are most conscious of its experience than it function.

A person’s temperament makes Him outgoing and extroverted or shy and introverted. It impeles some people to become art and music enthusiasts, whereas others are sports- industry minded. Children born of the same parents may have totally temperaments; in fact, I have met outstanding musicians whose siblings were tone- deaf.

Temperament is not the only influence upon our behaviour, of course. Early home life, training, education, sex, and motivation also exercise powerful influences on our action through out life. Temperament, however, dominates our life, not only because it affects us initially but because, like body structure, color of eyes, and other physic characteristics, it is permanent through out life. An extrovert remains and extrovert. He may tone down the expression of his extroversion, but he will always be outgoing. Similarly, although and introvert may be able to come out of his shell and act more aggressively, he will never be transformed into an extrovert.

Temperament sets broad guideline on everyone’s behaviour-pattern that will influence a person as long as he lives. On one side are his strengths, on the other his is weaknesses. The primary advantage to leaning about the four basic temperaments is to discover our most pronounced strength and weaknesses. In this way we can fulfil our personal destiny to the maximum.

Temperament is the combination of inborn traits that subconsciously affect human behaviours. These traits, arranged genetically on the basis of nationality, race, sex, and other hereditary factors, are passes on by the genes. Some physiologist suggests that we may get as many genes from our grandparents as we do from our parents, which could account for the grater resemblance of some children to their grandparents than their parents. The alignment of temperament traits is just an unpredictable as the colour of the eyes or size of body.

In summary, temperament is the combination of the traits we were born with; character is our ‘civilized’ temperaments; and personality is the ‘face’ we show to others. Of the three, temperament has the greatest influence on our behaviour.
