Have you found your WHY?

Do you know what I mean by the term?

Your WHY is the reason you get out of bed each day and go to work. It is the reason you want the nice things in life and why you must push yourself further to get what you want. Your WHY can make you do things you previously would not have thought about and maybe they made you feel quite uncomfortable at the time, that is OK. It means you go without something so your WHY can benefit. Your WHY makes you want to achieve more, be more, become a better person, a leader, a success, whatever success to you may be.

So think about what your WHY is. It maybe your children, wanting a particular lifestyle for them such as private schooling and optimum healthcare, your partner/spouse enabling your wife to be an 'at home Mum', or Dad being able to pick the children up from school each day and help them with their homework, enabling your parents to have a secure, comfortable retirement, provide for your church, donate to your favourite charity, be able to donate your time and money to your school and community. The list is endless and you may very well realise that you have more than one WHY!

I would like you to also think about another equally important WHY.

That is YOU.

You have to believe that you are equally worth the other WHY'S and even more. You must believe in yourself, and that takes attitude. Feeling sorry for yourself and not worthy has to stop immediately. The wondering what to do and how you got there has to stop right away. Start believing in yourself, harness the get up and go and GO FOR IT. The doubts and lack of confidence must be replaced with confidence and an 'I Can Do' mental attitude, and an 'If I Don't Know I Will Find Out' attitude. It is now your responsibility to take charge of your own self-concept and redefine your beliefs. You must realise that you can do anything you set your mind to, with education, coaching, practice and commitment. Venus Williams said 'You have to believe in yourself when no one else does. That is what makes you a winner.'

Education does not necessarily mean a college degree, but it does mean acquiring the information required to make informed decisions. You are able to gather this information from numerous sources such as the internet, books, dvd's and cd's, and from other people, especially leaders in the field you have chosen to be in, but to name a few avenues. Successful people of this world always surround themselves with like minded people who think the same, are on the same track as you and have achieved success in the given arena, think of these people as mentors and/or coaches. Never be afraid to ask questions, there is no such thing as a silly question as you will always gain knowledge from the answer, but bare in mind the quality of the question will be reflected in the quality of the response, so make your questions count.

You are then required to implement this knowledge, that is to practice, by working hard and assessing your actions and continually ensure you are heading toward your goals each and every day. You must commit to this if you want to achieve your goals. It requires you to be persistent despite failure, when an obstacle presents itself take a detour and find a better route, use it as an opportunity to gain a greater experience and never, never, never give up. Commit to constant and never ending improvement, if the overall picture is too daunting, then commit to taking one step at a time it is not always going to be easy, there will be times you want to stop because it is too hard or you are too exhausted, take the time to refocus you must always maintain your vision.

Success always comes with a price but the end result will be worth it, just ask your WHY.
