What kind of Legacy Are You Leaving?
The word Legacy means ~ something handed on from those who have come before!
I sit here and think of what kind of Legacy am I going to leave behind? What will my family and friends say about how they appreciate me, what have I meant to them or how I inspired others? What kind of Legacy are you going to leave behind? My mother just past away June 18th 2010 and I sit here and think about her Legacy. Her legacy was of kindness, generosity and LOVE. She would listen, clearly listen, she would have compassion, and she enjoyed all who came into her life. When people talk about my mother they say how she is so giving, so uplifting, and most of all… loving. My sister always said…mom, when you go to heaven you are going to have to BIGGEST set of angel wings. How large will your angel wings be? What Legacy are you going to leave?
When people think of Legacy they right away go to the first meaning in the dictionary ~ money or property bequeathed to someone by will. But, the Legacy I am talking about is the one that you give with your heart and soul.
My mom fought cancer right till the end. Our many conversations were about letting all go, forgiveness, enjoying every day life and looking at what is in front of you and not searching for outside happiness. She said in the end… money, houses and cars are nothing without love, compassion and being true to your authentic self.
To experience life and make good choices we have to live our life aligned with our values, when we do that we fulfill one of our highest needs; FOR OUR LIFE TO HAVE MEANING! We must choose to be in alignment with our values and life purpose. My mom said her purpose was to raise her family, be there for her family and love her family. She did that. She aligned her values to her life purpose. She new the greatest gift to have and to give is love.
So, I ask you these questions:
1. What are your top 5 important personal values?
2. What is your legacy?
3. What changes do you need to make now in your life in order to realize your legacy?
Your purpose is your overall destination and your vision is the journey you take to get there. Make them both clear and you will have no problem reaching your destination. Responsibility starts with a commitment to honor your values. To watch a video on Legacy visit:
