People who experience hair loss usually ponder overwhatproduct works best for hair loss. There are many hair loss products out there and one can get confused by the numerous advertisements that portray each hair product as the best thing that ever happened since balding first occurred. When looking for hair loss products, it is important to know what the cause of your loss is. Is it due to hereditary factors? Is it due to ageing? Is it due to exposure to harmful chemicals? These questions need to be answered before you can begin looking for an appropriate remedy for your hair loss. The hair loss products are both prescription based and natural.

The prescription drugs usually treat the male pattern baldness which most of the time is caused by hereditary factors, which means that if your parents are bald, then you can also expect to be bald at some point in your life. The substance that is thought to cause male pattern baldness is DHT. DHT prevents the hair follicles from growing new hairs and therefore begin the balding process. The average person loses some hair every day. However, because the hair follicles quickly grow new hairs, the loss is not easily seen and as such a person maintains their full head of hair. When the growth of new hairs is impeded by DHT, the lost hairs become more than the replenished hairs and with time the balding process starts; first with soft hairs growing in before a complete baldness is realized.

Pharmaceutical drugs tackle this problem by blocking the conversion of the male testosterone hormone into DHT. By so doing, the hair follicles grow their hair normally and the balding problem is solved. However, such products may come with side effects and it's important to consult with your doctor before using them. Always check the ingredients in these drugs to see if you will react with them. These also may contain some herbal products such as saw palmetto to make them have a more natural appeal and to reduce their side effects. A majority of them also contain minoxidil that has been known to act as a great cure for receding hair lines.

The prescription drugs include Procerin, Provillus, Corvinex etc. However, these drugs may not treat female type baldness which is not caused by DHT. Instead, female type baldness is caused by hormonal imbalances and even in most cases it does not result in complete baldness as is the case with men. There are drugs in the pipeline that are being developed in the same line as these drugs and of them is Sephren.

One may also choose to use herbal or natural substances in order to treat their baldness. Such natural substances are loved by some people because they have fewer side effects compared to the prescription drugs. The herbal products include rosemary, margosa, amla oil, lettuce juice mixed with spinach juice, honey, coconut oil, etc. As with all drugs it is important to know its ingredients before using them in order to know whether they can treat your condition and whether they can react with your body.
