Eating disorder treatment centers are your best bet when it comes to treating anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders.  One does have questions about what is it that makes these treatment units a preferable thing with not just celebs and the elite but also with common people. Issues of dieting were once a thing that would be a concern to people who were in glamorous professions or rich social circles, but now the pressure to look good and slim is so much that everyone wants to be thin and sleek. But therein lies the problem; people adopt wrong ways of doing so and then they become a part of a person's addictive behavior.

There are two ways in which treatment can be administered: inpatient treatment or outpatient treatment. In inpatient treatment, there is a thorough assessment and treatment done with round the clock monitoring of the person's condition. If the patient's condition is  not good at all and she is not even able to  move properly or she has a high degree of psychological trauma about her weight issue, then it is better that she be given inpatient treatment.

If the problem is serious and there is some organ or process failure in the body, there may be a condition which warrants inpatient treatment like tube feeding or intravenous feeding.  Outpatient treatment is given when the problem is not so serious and the person only requires a paradigm shift in her mental approach about the diet that should work the best for her. In an outpatient eating disorder rehab , she can visit the clinic twice a week or so and continue her studies or work.

The most important part of treatment is counseling. There are doctors, dieticians, nutritionists and psychologists who will advice on eating right and what kind of nutrients your body and mind needs for optimum health and well-being. They will also advice you the right kind of exercise that should be done without putting too much stress on your body.  The multidisciplinary approach works very well because the person by the end of the therapy begins to learn a lot and does away with a lot of myths and misconceptions.

There are different set of models of treatment, a prominent one being Maudsley model which works on the ground that there should be family involvement to speed up the treatment process and keep the positive change permanent.  There are counseling and support groups also who advice you on weight management and give you a platform to share with others, where you can learn a lot about health and fitness.  Overall, by the time the person completes the therapy, she has a fair understanding of being healthy, being fit and not abusing food.  She comes to realize that the so-called fad diets are money-making venture that work short-time, if at all; they do work. Eating disorder treatment programs make you to take a leaf from our ancestor's lives; they were lucky not to eat junk food, they did not skip meals, they ate organic and they lived longer than an average person today.
