If you have noticed you boyfriend acting somewhat distracted and not as attentive as he used to be, it might be cause for concern. When men seem to not be hearing what you are saying or do not share personal experiences with you, it could be that something about his job or family is causing him concern and has nothing to do with your relationship, or it could be that he is getting ready to break up with you. Whatever the cause, when your boyfriend begins acting distant , it is wise to be prepared for the worst.

Your friends might tell you that he is afraid of his feelings for you. Many men, when they find themselves falling in love, will panic. They are caught between two desires: Their freedom and you. Some men value their freedom very much and when they feel themselves about to make a commitment, visions of being burdened with a home and family cause them to be overwhelmed. Although this happens more frequently than you might think, do not be too sure this is the reason when your boyfriend begins acting distant. You cannot be sure of his reasons, but if he is acting differently toward you, it could spell trouble for your relationship and you need to take quick action before he slips away.

Do not think that you can ask him what the problem is because this could give him the chance he is looking for to tell you he needs space or some other ridiculous excuse to break up with you. The best thing to do is look at yourself and your behavior toward your boyfriend. Maybe you are being too attentive to him and he feels smothered , or in your haste to get him to commit, you might have been pushing too hard. Either of these actions can cause a man to pull away. They feel that you might be too controlling and you will always put your needs first.

Look carefully at your actions toward your boyfriend and if you are guilty of being smothering or pushy, it would be best to back off for a while and be a little less available to him. Do things that interested you before you became so involved with your boyfriend. Go out with your girlfriends, or take up a hobby. Showing your boyfriend that he is not the center of your life and you have other interests will take the pressure off him and you may find that your boyfriend will not be acting distant anymore.
