Eventually most people go through a bout with ear ringing. This disrupting noise happens in various levels from a soft hum that is not so bad to a loud irritating ring. This can occur is a single ear or both of them, this condition is known as tinnitus and has been around a long time. The good thing is that most of the cases or sudden ringing ears vanishes as quickly as it came, and the people don't have to feel the aggravation of the longer-term tinnitus.
The sudden occurrence of this problem is not uncommon and makes one wonder what the reasons are for it happening. An unexpected bout with tinnitus can have many reasons for happening. This kind of tinnitus luckily goes away fairly fast and only last a short period of time. The first thing to check for as a reason is earwax. Everyone's inner ear produces cerumen, which is better known as earwax, on a continual basis. The wax can accumulate to the point of making the ears ring along with other problems. Never try to dig out the wax with sharp objects though. Doing this could permanently damage any ear. The preferred way for removing is through using an earwax-removal kit sold in stores, or going to the doctor and letting him remove it.
Ear infections at a serious level can start the ringing in the ears suddenly. This problem should get attention immediately mainly due to the fact the medications for ear infections can sometimes cause ongoing ear ringing or loss of hearing. Ototoxic antibiotics can be used for treatment of infections in the ear can make the ears noisy. Other drugs too can make the ear ringing to come on abruptly and some of them are: anti-depressants, loop-inhibiting diuretics, aminoblycoside antibiotics, ibuprofen, salicylate analgesics (high powered aspirin), naproxen sodium (Aleve, Naprosyn), chemotherapy, quinine/anti-malarials, oral contraceptives and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. If while taking any of the drugs listed here or any other drugs for that fact the ears start to ring then the doctor should be talked to immediately.
The above reasons for suddenly-appearing ear ringing occur because of various things happening in the body like the ear wax accumulating, or the bad effect from the sufferer taking certain medications, but outside problems could also bring on this condition. You should not think you are free from ear ringing at the dentist either. Having a bad tooth removed or just a regular cleaning has brought on this irritating problem, because the bones can get disturbed in the area of the ear. The bones then conduct loud noises along to each one of the ears causing them to start the ringing. One of the other outside causes is a head injury. People who have been in car wrecks or other disastrous events will often have the complaint of ear ringing. The scanning machines that are non-invasive in nature, CATs and MRIs with their noises that can be quite loud can create a problem for the ears. When undergoing these procedures earplugs should be worn to protect the ears.
When the first symptoms show up on the ringing in the ears an examination should be sought out quickly to find out the causes. The ringing could be caused as a result of being exposed to loud noises. An example this is leaving a concert with the ears ringing. Also new medications could cause a sudden case of tinnitus to happen. This condition could also be brought on by earwax buildup. No matter what the cause is treatment should be sought out at once.
