When your boyfriend tells you he needs some time , what he is really saying is that he wants to put you on hold. He is not really wanting to end things with you. He just wants to go out and have a good time and see what else is out there, and if he does not like what he sees, he will have you waiting. You need to stop him cold and show him you are not playing his game.

You will want to cry and beg him to stay, and that is what he wants you to do. This will boost his ego and tell him that he is right. He can go out and date other women, take as long as he wants and when he is ready for you again, you will be waiting. This makes him feel that he owns you, and that makes life miserable for you. As long as you play his game, he will never respect you or treat you the way you deserve. If you have to be his puppet in order to keep him, you are better of with out him.

The time to settle the issue is when he tells you he needs time. Instead of crying and begging him, put a smile on your face and tell him you feel the same way. Say that you have been thinking for quite some time that being apart would do both of you a lot of good. This will be hard to do, but if you can manage it, your boyfriend will be the one to feel rejected and dumped. All of his plans will be blown apart. The woman he thought would always be sitting around waiting for him has just dumped him and he will leave shaking his head in confusion.

Now is when you need to stay strong, and have no contact with him. In fact, if you can, take a vacation or visit out of town relatives. At least you should drop out of his sight for a few weeks. Occupy yourself with your friends and family, join an exercise club or do volunteer work. Keep your mind off your ex as much as possible. You will miss him and want to hear his voice, but you cannot weaken. During this time you can be sure that your ex boyfriend is thinking of you and starting to miss you too. He will also be wondering if the reason you were so anxious to give him time was because you had another guy.

Feeling that you are now out of his reach, will make him desire you again and he will be in contact with you. This is what you wanted all along, but you cannot appear too anxious. Play a little hard to get and let him chase you for a while. When you do get back together, he will treat you with the respect you deserve .
