Most people would agree that your smile is the very first impression you give people when you first meet them. There is nothing worse than giving a stranger, or those around you the impression that you don't care about your personal hygiene, with teeth that aren't as white as they could be. With a little research you will find that there are many ways to whiten your teeth and keep them that way with a little maintenance.

Regular Cleaning

First make sure that you brush with a good whitening toothpaste (ADA Approved) and floss every day. Some people believe the more you brush, the better: Truth is brushing two to three times a day is perfect. Also don't brush your teeth as hard as possible. Use a soft bristle brush and brush your teeth gently, so you don't cause your tooth enamel to wear prematurely.

Dental Visits

If you really want to whiten your teeth and keep them that way: Visit your dentist at least twice a year. Stains often start below the gum line, where we can't see them, so getting to your dentist when you're supposed to is very important to hit stains before they start. Dental visits will also make sure you're aware of any minor problems, such as cavities before they become major problems that can cost a pretty penny.

Teeth Whiteners

There are many over the counter products that will whiten your teeth including: toothpastes (as already mentioned), bleaches, oxygen treatments, oil pulling, etc. You can also have laser treatments done at the local dentist or hygienist. While many of these treatments are very safe and refined: It's up to you to decide which is right for you. All products have a different level of effectiveness for each individual, as well as varying price ranges.
