Plato said it but then he lived so long ago in a culture that, well, a culture much like ours in it's Aristotelian thinking. But of coursed Plato put it a bit differently: "Know Thyself". I bet you knew that but did you know that Plato came about via a virgin birth? His mother Perictione was a virgin who conceived him immaculately by the god Apollo. Apollo himself revealed the circumstances of this conception to Ariston, the AFFIANCED husband of the virgin. So, don't feel like the Long Ranger Joseph, it has happened to many, not just you and Ariston! But, back to the main point of today's commentary. As long as one continues to play religious games that make no factual-scientific sense, defy logic, and smack of exclusivity and elitism, we'll never know who we are. There's a divine spark, a light within each of us (Jesus called it the Kingdom of God- I call it unconditional love) which holds the DNA to our true identity. The ego does not know- it only pretends to know. The third saying of the Gospel of Thomas nailed it with these words, "When you KNOW yourselves (who you really are) then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living father, But if you do not know yourselves, then you will dwell in poverty, and you are poverty." We're not just talking paper-fiat currencies here y'all. We have to move from the egoic mind to the inner spirit. It's not coincidental that David took down Goliath with a head shot! It's a metaphor! The enemy that must be defeated is the ego, the mind that thinks it's what it's not. Who are you? You are like me and I like you- children of God with a whole lot more potential than we're currently demonstrating. Give me some love. Better yet, let me GIVE it.
