Whole foods diet plan is one of the most simplest and effective diet plan for weight loss. The whole foods diet plan is sometimes referred to as "Clean Eating". The premise of clean eating is to eat foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.

For example, whole, natural, organic fruit, vegetables and meat would become the main staples of your diet, plus moderate amounts of whole grains. Highly processed and refined foods, including manufactured pseudo-food monstrosities born in a laboratory, would be out.

Unfortunately, in today's modern world, people tend to eat unhealthy foods. Before industrial boom of modern society, most people were having a simple diet; their diets consisted of whole, fresh foods that were locally grown and raised. Fast forward a few centuries and suddenly we're chugging down vast quantities of refined sugar, artery-clogging trans fats, and chemical preservatives that are doing who-knows-what to our bodies.

A whole foods diet isn't really a "diet" but it's one of the easiest and most effective ways to lose weight. You simply eliminate anything that wouldn't have existed in nature without man's interference and consume mostly whole, organic foods.  This can be interpreted in different ways when it comes to certain foods; for example, some people believe that whole grains are not a "whole" food because they have been processed and baked into bread, crackers and cereal. Others feel that whole grains are still close enough to their natural form so that all of the nutrients haven't been refined out.

Either way, the weight loss benefits of whole foods diet plan are clear:

- Better nutrition
- More energy
- Fewer calories (unless you overdo it on nuts and olive oil)
- Fewer chemicals ingested
- Less pesticide exposure
- Simple to follow
- Low glycemic for the most part (some fruits are high in sugar)

Clean eating doesn't appeal to everyone, but there are obvious health benefits to be gained, even if you choose to do a partial whole foods diet plan. For example, you may decide to eat clean during the week, and be a little more relaxed and enjoy some favorite treats on the weekends, or you can even make it a goal to eat 90% clean and still allow yourself a few favorite processed foods here and there.

If you have the discipline to stick to the whole foods diet plan, you would definitely enjoy a healthier lifestyle and free from any weight problem.
