The wedding ceremony has typically been an event that is laced with symbolism. Gestures throughout history and different cultures that represent hope for the couples wealth, happiness and fertility. The unity wedding candles are no exception to the rituals rich with symbolism. Selecting the unity candle specific to you as a couple can make the day even more memorable.

The bride and groom will both be entering this union together but both may have unique family histories. These histories not only mean we have been exposed to different things but we have also developed different family traditions. There is a chance that you and your partner come from a similar heritage or from a very different background, whether it is cultural, religious or family traditions. You will want to have a ceremony that clearl represents both sides of the family and the union of the two. None of the traditions should be forgotten and with so many styles of unity wedding candles available you are certain to find one that will work to enhance your union, taking into account your heritage as well as your personal tastes and preferences. You do not have to give up your

Regardless of how long you and your mate have known each other and been in each other's lives, you have both come this far in life as individuals. Even when you embrace the wonderful bond of marriage, you will still be two individual people with your own likes and dislikes, personal tastes, preferences and interests. When you have your wedding ceremony, you will not be giving up your distinctiveness.

The wedding unity candles at your wedding ceremony will symbolically show this union of two separate and unique individuals. First, the single tapered candles which you and your partner will use to light the single unity candle symbolize what each of you is bringing to your marriage. This includes your own unique family history, and each is bringing his or her individual self. The lighting of the unity candle with these two tapers shows what a powerful gift each person is bringing to the marriage. It is a meaningful and memorable segment of the wedding ceremony.

This is a ceremony not only about what you as individuals are bringing to the union but it is about you and your mate being joined together and the life you will have ahead in a partnership. The candle then symbolizes the unity of your marriage. This is to be the theme as you carry your life into the future together. As a symbol of the ongoing commitment to their wedding vows, couples will re-light their unity candles on their anniversaries. The significance of the wedding unity candles goes beyond just an attractive accessory, this is a beautiful piece that represents so much more, and no bride or groom should skip this significant step in the ceremony.
