Tinnitus can assume on many sounds from buzzing, beeping, roaring, whistling, hissing, whooshing to humming, beating, or chirping. Whatever the sound may be the fact remains that there is no cure for tinnitus. It is a ringing in ears that can change how you live every day. The severity of your case differs from everyone else's and you are the only one who can hear it; tinnitus does not have an external source. Tinnitus is a unique condition to the sufferer. It can range in pitch and tone and from person to person. This could be a life changing experience that can get so bad that it takes over ever second of your day.

The brutality that some sufferers endure with tinnitus can affect all those around them as well. Not that they can hear it, but tinnitus can change a lot of things around you and your health. Sleep is very important to your health and if this condition is keeping you awake all night then you will tend to get moody and sick more often. Concentration also can become a thing of the past; the ringing can become so loud that your thoughts can be overrun by it. You can have this in one ear or the other and in both ears at the same time. Here are just some of the forms of tinnitus:

  • Tonal tinnitusis general ringing of ears; this can sometime sound like a melody that continuously plays.
  • Pulsatile tinnitusthis form is caused mostly in those who suffer with high blood pressure. You can actually hear your own heartbeat in sync with the pulsing in your ears. It can be a nonstop problem or just come and go.
  • Regular tinnitusthis is when the ears ring, buzz, beep, whistle or hiss.
  • Less common tinnitusthis can be tones in the ears that sound like music notes playing or a form of Morse code sounds.
  • Less commonthis is a problem in which you can hear all of the above at the exact same time.
  • Objective tinnitus; a rare and unusual form of tinnituswith this form of tinnitus you are not alone. Others can hear the sounds that you are experiencing. If you take a stethoscope and put in behind your ear then it is audible. This condition however is usually the result of having a very serious underlying problem, such as an aneurysm or a tumor in a blood vessel, inner ear damage from structural defects, and repeated contracting muscles in the middle ear.

Facts of Tinnitus

  • It is a very common condition
  • Approximately 17 % of the world is a sufferer of some sort
  • 44 million people are affected by tinnitus
  • Hearing impairment is a possibility but not deafness
  • Normal daily activities can be an issue based on severity of the condition
  • It is not fully understood and no cure for ringing in ears is available
  • You can try to mask the problem with other more soothing sounds

Whatever problems that you are experiencing with the tinnitus just keep in mind that there is no cure and finding something to make the symptoms lower is your only hope to finding relief. All tinnitus problems are different; you need to find what works for you and stick to it.
