Microdermabrasion rejuvenates and revitalizes skin. Microdermabrasion uses a fine jet of crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate your skin while vacuum suction removes the crystals with the dead skin cells, leaving you with new, softer skin and even skin texture. Microdermabrasion also promotes the production of new cells in the deepest layer of the dermis, cleans pores and stimulates collagen to improve skin texture. Microdermabrasion can be used on the light or dark skin to treat face, neck, chest, elbows, arms, knees and hands. The microdermabrasion treatment process: Patients have attributed the sensation of a microdermabrasion treatment as a slight windburn. The discomfort is usually quite minimal. The treatment typically lasts 20 minutes on the face, and 45 minutes on the neck and upper body area. A usual course of microdermabrasion treatment varies between 4 – 8 sessions at approximately 1 - 2 weeks intervals. For acne scars, up to 20 treatments may be necessary. It is recommended to schedule additional treatments every 1 – 3 months to maintain your skin in excellent condition. Microdermabrasion is suited for: - Fine lines and wrinkles - Age spots, sun damage and hyperpigmentation - Acne scars, chickenpox scars and stretch marks - Congested skin, enlarged pores and blemishes - Dull skin After microdermabrasion care: Rehydrating toner, moisturizer and sunscreen is applied to treated area to leaving the doctor’s office. Some redness is expected after the microdermabrasion treatment, however, this is not likely to persist for more than a few hours. The sensation of having a mild sunburn will also pass after a few hours. Applying moisturizer at this point will help. Avoiding direct sun exposure and use sun screen is highly recommended after the treatment, also avoid AHA, glycolic acid products and skin exfoliation scrubs for 72 hours both before and after the treatments. Avoid full make-up like foundation and pressed powder for 24 hours after the treatment. Eye make-up and lipstick may be applied immediately after the microdermabrasion treatment.
