In the latest Mumbai Local News, it seems that the year 2010 is going to be the best year for the women's activists. As we zoom past the first decade of the twenty first century, India is trying to emerge as one of the biggest economies in the world. A developed country is not only measured by the money in its coffers, but also by the number of women representatives in the legislature. Mumbai Local News suggested that in a country of such a huge population it is sad t see that such a small number of women choose politics as their career. The women bill has been passed recently, this will help secure spots for women in the legislative assembly. According to the Mumbai Local News the women's registration bill has been supported by the Rajya Sabha and it remains to be seen I fit gets a thumbs up from the Lok Sabha as well. Once the president gives her consent to the bill, it is likely that the number of women in the Maharashtra legislative assembly will reach a peak. Mumbai City women have welcomed the bill with open arms. Most women activists have been waiting for his bill to come forward for a long time to come. The fact remains that in modern India, women seldom get ample opportunities to rise above the rest and make a mark for themselves. Mumbai City residents have found a great deal of hope with the passing of this bill as it might lead to quite a few women centric reforms in the future. The Mumbai Local News said that the politicians are rejoicing since the bill was a long awaited one. At the grassroots, a lot of Indian women are involved in politics and social activities but they do not get the chance to rise through the ranks.
