*Women Reservation Bill* Women reservation bill includes the reservation and facility given to the women in terms of seats and power alloted to them in parliament. It was first introduced in 1996 in the parliament but it was opposed as it did not get the clear cut majority. The bill states that 33% of the seats should be alloted to the women candidates in the parliament of India. The bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha in 9th march 2010, but it is yet to be passed from the Lok Sabha. If in Lok sabha it clears one third majority than it will be successfully employed. The bill is opposed by the well know minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mulayam singh. According to Lalu " I am not opposing women reservation, but instead of alloting 33 % seats only 15-10% of seats should be alloted. Since 22.5 % seats are already given to dalits, sc, st and other backward class people there is no point in giving high reservation to women because then the reservation quota would rise to atleast 55%. So in terms of other qualified men and women it would be unjust to them." According to me the several disadvantages to women reservation act are:-1) Offering this much reservation to women candidates, it will encourage elitist group of women. Hence these kind of women community will get financial favours. It means it will prove discrimination for other women too. According to Indian election survey there are 68% of women who are crorepati.2) This will block 33 % of eligible candidates to stand for parliamentary elections.3) Since 22.5 % of reservation is already be given to SC and ST candidates, other 33% reservation will almost block the eligible candidates upto half a way ! 4) Reservation is already been given to women upto 30 % in grampanchayat so such measurements in parliament are not required. According to me the advantages for the same are :-1) This will boost the women participation in Politics and parliamentary activities.2) Since the rajya sabha and the lok sabha were been enjoyed by men majority, this act will offer the so called " equal rights " to women.3) According Cencus data women are the one who are least corrupted hence such reservation will bring more women majority and less corrupted government.4) Of course none better than the women themselves can understand and solve their "own" problems. So the decreasing sex ratio(1.06 males per female) and the women unemployement can be reduced if women themselves can come to power.
