How to leave bed to work everyday?

For me, the most difficult part about heading to work every day is the minute I leave my warm bed, especially when it is a cold day! I start snoozing my alarm, convincing myself that I still have enough time and that there is totally no harm in enjoying another couple of minutes in bed… I even start thinking if it is a wise decision to go to work in the first place! Have you been there too?!

Since I am committed to my work, I have created my own technique that helped me to wake up every morning:

1-     Every night before I fall asleep, I have to come up with three reasons on why I should go to work on the next day.. trust me, reasons may sound so silly sometimes!.. i.e.: to tell my colleague about the gift my husband brought me… or to accomplish a pending work issue that I left unfinished… or even having a nice sandwich at the cafeteria! no matter how insignificant the reasons I may list, still they give me a feeling that I have to be at work instead of being at home, or at least, remind me that some interesting things may happen at work and that I better be there so not to miss it!

2-     I always prepare something smart to wear for work. I check my closet before going to bed and decide in advance what I am going to wear.. who doesn’t want to go to work if he has an attractive neat suite to wear?! Think of the compliment you will be receiving!

3-     I always leave my best cookies, chocolate, or fruit for breakfast.. I always make sure that my kitchen has something delicious waiting for me in the morning, something I love so much that I may leave my bed just to taste it. Sometimes I deliberately go to bed without having dinner so that hunger can get me out of my bed in the morning!

4-     I always make sure that I have a pre-planned commitment at work for the coming day; a commitment that I cannot re-arrange with a phone call or delegate to a colleague. Such arrangement will prevent me from calling my boss in the very last minute and report sick just because I felt too lazy to wake up in the morning! Knowing that I HAVE to be at work pushes me to leave my bed immediately… be careful..DO NOTdo that if you are an irresponsible employee! It might cause you your job!

5-     Finally, I always make sure that I have a pushy bed partner who will keep nagging me until I leave my bed! I really have to thank my husband for playing that role!
