(CBT) is based on the assumption that most emotional and behavioral reactions are learned. Therefore, the goal of therapy is to help clients unlearntheir unwanted reactions and to learn a new way...

Addiction recovery is a scary process. You’ve got to face those feelings of anxiety and fear that cause you to abuse your addiction. They keep you stuck in recovery.

So how can you handle your fears?

First, you’ve got to identify what you are fearful about. Here are some examples:

  • I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle the emotional pain
  • I’m afraid I’ll make a promise not to do my addiction, and fail...

Self help to stop drinking might be an efficient way to get relieved from this habit. However, self realization promotes self help to stop drinking. Despite attending educational and awareness programs and combining it with mental and physical workouts, many people face a tough period in quitting this awful habit. Drinking affects the personality of a person in many ways. Conversely, adhering to certain self help programs can truly keep people away from drinking.

Looking at brainwave patterns, many experts in the game of love have surmised that subliminal seduction and music are really great ways for you to succeed in the game of love. Music is a real important part of the game of seduction and what you need to know is that you need to be able to queue the right kind of music for the right kind of mood. Playing heavy metal might not get a girl in the mood, unless she is a rocker chick, and then, you need to find some really mellow heavy metal as...

Am I an alcoholic?

This is a question every alcoholic has to answer for themselves before they get sober. And they will have to answer honestly and without reservation yes!

Otherwise sobriety will be hard come by if ever attained at all. Why get sober if you're not a drunk?

Years ago drunkards who were of lower socioeconomic backgrounds were considered to be people with serious immoral if not criminal behaviors.

The idea that someone could have a genuine...

Why do we choose to use substances, and more importantly, why do some of us abuse substances?  Well, simply, some of them make us feel good…at least for a short while.  Cigarettes make you experience a rush for a few seconds when the chemicals hit your brain.  Alcohol is similar.  Initially, a person feels a euphoric feeling when consuming alcohol but this substance is a depressant and, well…depresses you.  Alcohol, heroin, cocaine, sexual...

You can be addicted to Gambling, Impulsive Sex, Video Games, Watching TV all day, chatting on the phone. There are lots of things you do that you can't stop yourself doing and these are all addictions. If you do any of the things are you real...

Medical technology has provided specific drugs that can help with detoxification symptoms. I know it sounds odd. Take a drug to get off a drug. But because some of the symptoms are so severe, having these drugs available can be very important. Plus, they are not addictive, and when you are under the care of a doctor, they will monitor your usage very carefully until you won't have to take those drugs anymore.

One very effective treatment of opiate withdrawal symptoms is...

Alcohol addiction and physical reliance on alcohol occurs slowly. Over time, drinking alcohol changes the balance of a few chemicals in your mind, like gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA), which reduces impulsiveness, as well as glutamate, which excites nervous system. Alcohol even raises the level of dopamine in the mind, which is linked with the agreeable features of drinking alcohol. Extreme, long-term drinking could increase or deplete the levels of a few of these chemicals,...

The first thing that you need to be really aware of is that your mind is full of clutter and that is one of the things that is stopping you from having the real effect of how to control your mind, and what you really need to do is to find a conducive place where you can really concentrate. This means that you would be able to focus on the matter at hand. One of the things that you need to realise is that the places that you are going to do these exercises are really very...
