Addiction is an illness in its own right and could cause the victim from achieving goals or reaching acceptable standards in different spheres of life due to too much stickablity. It is mainly a repetition of excessive behavior, more often negative ones, and the addict finds it very difficult to stop despite the harmful consequences.

It could be psychological addiction to narcotics addiction, tobacco addiction, alcohol cravings, online gambling addiction, watching too much...

It would be almost impossible not to be aware of the health risks of smoking, with all the media coverage and irrefutable medical proof of the serious risks. The benefits of quitting smoking are also well-documented.

The list of health risks is quite extensive and includes emphysema, lung cancer, breast cancer, asthma, blindness, changes to teeth, hair and skin, heart disease and circulation problems. Then there is the effect of the results of your smoking on the people who...

To quit smoking cold turkey, you need to make a clean break from cigarettes. Once you decide to quit, tell yourself that you have had your last smoke and don't spend any time feeling sorry for yourself. Quitting cold turkey is more about your mind set than anything else so once you start to see cigarettes as a bad habit instead of a reward, then you will be half way there to kicking the habit for good.

Most people tell themselves that they will quit when they are ready; this...

Last night I was happened to meet one of my old class fellows who used to be a very responsible and well aware student of our class. After talking to him for a while I get to know about his kids kidnapping case. On enquiring it was revealed to me that he has waited so much money and time on tracing the phone number of kidnapper. Even then has not...

There seems to be a lot going on in the area of Religious Abuse Recovery at this time.  I've received many letters commenting on my Religious Abuse series published at Trans4Mind.com under the title "Dr Moe Unplugged." This material is now available here at the Ascension Training Centre in this category entitled "Religious Abuse."

The most recent letter I received was from a man named Carlos who had suffered at the hands of Santeria practitioners in his...

Addiction is the compulsive activity and overwhelming involvement with a specific activity.  It can be a psychological dependence or physical. We all know the physical ones such as alcohol and drugs.  We deal with physical dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal.  We are all familiar with the so called cures, i.e. cold turkey, abstinence, psychological counseling or rehabilitations.  Does sexual addiction fit these parameters or definitions?  Clearly the answer is...

Drug abuse has long focused on subjects like alcohol abuse and illegal drug use like cocaine, crystal meth and so on. While all of these drugs remain real problems, the new trend in drug abuse is prescription drugs where addiction can come on quickly.

The 1960s were all about free love and what have you. Flash forward to today and we don't find hippies smoking funny cigarettes. No, we find people popping pills. More specifically, popping pain pills. The explosion in the...

Self improvement tapes help you to achieve your goal of quitting by detailed instructions. There are 3 forms of addiction:  positive, negative, and neutral.  Each form affects a person's life in some fashion.  Whether the addiction has a positive, negative, or neutral affect is up to a person's perception and reaction to performing the addictive activity.  If the activity helps the individual or other people then its positive.  If it hurts the person or other people (physically, mentally, financially, etc.) then the activity is negative.  A...
