So you are married to an alcoholic? Well it is easy to see he/she is drinking alone, also losses of jobs, has violent behavior or is super friendly when drinking or violent. Also if this person needs alcohol to function there is a problem.

When an alcoholic drinks they change like the difference between the sun and the moon. If you are sick of it and can not take it anymore do not do it. I am a a recovering alcoholic and what happens is is family and friends try to hide the...

It can be scary going to drug rehab because you know it's a decision that will change your life. However, knowing that you really will only slide downhill if you don't can be a great motivator. Everyday you can see on the internet celebrities in rehab or who have overdosed. Reading articles about addiction can also get you on the right track.

Recovery from drugs is often best assisted by going to a rehab program for a month. Getting fully immersed in your own treatment and being...

There is a lot of denial about alcohol abuse so you may not always get a straight answer when you confront someone. Dealing with deadlines, a demanding boss or issues with co-workers can get us very wound up and releasing tension at the end of the day is important. For some people, this takes the form of exercise. Others use alcohol as a way to unwind.

If someone is having more than a couple of beers or glasses of wine regularly, it can indicate that certain issues internally are...

Sometimes a teen gets into serious trouble. It is often caused by using drugs and abusing alcohol. This type of serious trouble requires a serious response and arguably the best - some would say the only - treatment involves the teenager leaving home to live in a residential treatment facility. There are different types of facilities such as:

- Clinical treatment center
- Boot camps
- Religious based center
- Therapeutic boarding school

I attended to a great meeting recently, it was all about rigorous honesty. Individuals having their first attempt in Alcoholics Anonymous and even quite a lot  that have been in for a while, imagine you should have right now, this extremely developed amount of rigorous honesty. I think we must be sensible concerning this. Just what drunk no more than one day sober is actually able to be rigorously honest regarding nearly anything?

I do think rigorous honesty will come...

It is a general belief that love addiction is not a big deal in comparison to other types of addictions like drugs, gambling or sex. And it might be true; however, love addiction can be easily compared to emotional disorders and obsessions that may often lead to a crime (i.e. a crime of passion). Suicides, murders, rapes and domestic violence have their roots in this addiction. The gravity of love addiction should not be underestimated.

Intimacy evolves over time, loving...

Many options for Heroin Detox

Heroin addiction is one of the hardest addictions overcome. No one can do it just by going "cold turkey", but don't worry there are many heroin detox options out there. One of the medications offered to help you is called Methadone. Methadone is an opiate just like heroine. The medicine targets on the same centers of the brain that heroin does, reducing the craving for heroin in a major way so it will make your heroin detox bearable....

Since I see many people in life going through depression due to their circumstances or their makeup whether they think they are too skinny or too fat or too ugly  or whatever else is holding you into bondage. I call it bondage because I too fell prey to the great deception from my brain, that I was no good and would never amount to anything and I was a total failure  since my wife left me. Though it is true that she left me and that I lost four properties, lots of money and...

I went to an exceptional meeting recently, it was all about rigorous honesty. Those having their first go Alcoholics Anonymous and so many who have been in it for quite a while, think you must begin with this highly developed degree of rigorous honesty. I believe we have to be realistic about this. What drunk only 1 day sober is actually able to be rigorously honest about anything?

Rigorous honesty comes about as a practice. As we go to meetings, talk to other alcoholics, go...
