Workaholic Who Loves Her Work?

Do "good" workaholics figure out how to love their work so they can still work a lot?

I think society defines a workaholic as someone who uses work as an addiction. And addictions are supposed to be about running away from feelings or dealing with feelings in an unhealthy manner.

So what I am asking is – am I still a workaholic even though now I love my work?

Many years ago I was a financial planner/financial...

Last night I was up late, listening to the wind and rain, the cat snoring and the dog eating something plastic in the dark.  I was thinking about a conversation I had with a fellow earlier in the day.  A fellow who is obviously committed to helping addicts leave their death defying life choices but I couldn't stop thinking about how  it was an uncomfortable conversation - he was a freaking bully and kept butting in.  I felt that he was trying to convert me through...

It is a general belief that love addiction is not a big deal in comparison to other types of addictions like drugs, gambling or sex. And it might be true; however, love addiction can be easily compared to emotional disorders and obsessions that may often lead to a crime (i.e. a crime of passion). Addiction is an illness in its own right and could cause the victim from achieving goals or reaching acceptable standards in different spheres of life due to too much stickablity. It is mainly a repetition of excessive behavior, more often negative ones, and the addict finds it very difficult to stop despite the harmful consequences.

It could be psychological addiction to narcotics addiction, tobacco addiction, alcohol cravings, online gambling addiction, watching too much...

Rehab is usually a very intense focus to get you out of your addiction and into a stable environment. Stable as far as getting you off your drug of choice, and getting you to the point where you don’t want to relapse.

Then what?

If you’ve identified God as your “higher power,” then you’re on the right track. But what does God want you to do with your life? Has He given up on you? No!

You may be thinking of all the bad...

Last summer (August 2009) I came across and article on internet addiction in the New York Times, focusing on how the internet permeates everyday family life, often intruding upon the face to face activities that traditionally connect members of a household together. Although, in may cases the behavior is not considered an obsession, it is growing exponentially to the point that the editors of theDiagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM), published by...

One thing every smoker would like is to conintue their habit without having to be worried about all the associated risks that go with it. Many alternatives to smoking are expensive and unpleasant and all too often don't achieve what you hoped they would. It often seems that the pharmeceutical companies are the only real winners in these methods. They removed the need for going at it with willpower alone but the replacements were unsatisfactory to say the least.

What smokers...
