They say that well begun is half done, and this saying is definitely applicable where stress management is concerned. The first thing you need to do is recognize the factors that are causing you the stress. That is half the battle won. We all do face stress at some point of our lives or the other, be it a seemingly petty issue of reaching the movies ten minutes after the show has begun or as serious an issue as money lenders landing up at your doorstep to recover their loan.

Stress was created to help the human body get through life's turbulence. When danger is sensed, the body's natural "fight or flight" response kicks in, as a way to prepare itself for battle. The adrenal glands kick into action, flooding the bloodstream with high doses of adrenaline to give the body energy.

Heart rate quickens and blood flow increases, giving the body's major organs and muscles more oxygen. Endorphins are released to work as natural painkillers....

Let's begin by counting how many times you got angry today. Did you honk a tad bit extra to get people out of your way as you were late to work? Did you throw a fit because your kid wouldn't have his glass of milk, and you wondered "Why God, why me?" Were you upset because your spouse spent the evening at work, and missed your dinner date? Little things seem to irk you beyond belief, you feel like the universe is conspiring against you. You think Murphy's laws were written...

People are spending more and more time at the "office," dealing with workplace stress .  We work insane hours in high stress, thankless environments.  There is a certain rush of energy that comes with this type of work, but that soon fades into a sort of mental exhaustion and in some cases, depression.  This isn't limited to office workers either.  Whatever your line of work, when you focus exclusively on it, you're bound to create many problems in your...

The first thing we do in life is take a breath; the last thing we do in life is take a breath; one of the worst things we do in life is take a breath.

How can that be?  We all breathe.  Continually and non-stop, we average between 12 – 18 breaths per minute.  And yet, most people are not breathing with the support of the diaphragm, a muscular partition separating the chest from the abdomen.  [To find that muscle, place your hands under your...

Good stress helps us perform better providing the strength and energy to overcome a challenge or flee from danger. Bad stress, on the other hand, can actually make us sick causing headaches, insomnia, chest pains and nausea. Excessive stress can also affect us mentally and emotionally causing confusion, anxiety, depression, impatience and irritability.

While many stressors are often beyond our control (noise, bright lights, and rude or careless people), some things we do...

It’s The Secret of Champions.

The average NBA player hits 8.3 points per game.

Michael Jordan’s average score was a mind-blowing 32 points per game.

That’s why Michael Jordan was Michael Jordan.

Jordan was so incredibly consistent he retired in 1999 from the NBA still keeping his 32 point career average. Here’s the remarkable thing: His 32 points happened whether he had injuries or not, or who...

In a world full of pressures, tension and anxiety, stress management is not a luxury. Often, the lack of effective stress management can lead to missed opportunities, underperformance, decline in interpersonal relationships and health problems. Most importantly, a stressed out person can never be happy or grow to their potential. This is why it is important to practice effective stress management techniques in your daily life, regardless of whether you are a homemaker, a...

To prevent stress, your diet plays a major role and it is vital to take into consideration everything you eat. You will always be told to eat a balanced and healthy diet but, you may not know exactly how healthy to make a meal. Therefore, it is vital for you to have information on nutrition and sources of nutrition. Some sources of healthy foods may not be suitable for you and a nutritionist will shed so much light into this when they consider your needs. There are people who eat...

Did you ever wish that there were a nice, easy way to control your stress? Wouldn’t it be nice if there were some way that you could relax your neck and shoulders, relieve your headache, and get rid of that knot in your stomach? Well, there is a way to take care of all these things and you have full control of it twenty-four hours a day. All you need to do is focus on your breath.
