To make the most of your driving time, you can listen to educational audio CDs while driving.  This is useful if you're too busy to listen to the CDs at home.  Or you may have time to listen to them at home, but you want to get some extra learning done by listening to the CDs while you drive.

You may know that when you read a book multiple times, you'll learn things that you missed the first time.  But reading a book multiple times from scratch can be time...

If you want to boost your productivity, it's important to be efficient at using your computer.  The more familiar you are with your computer, the faster it'll take you to perform tasks.

For instance, if you need to perform a task such as how to open your web browser, but you don't know how, it's going to take you a lot longer to get to a Web site.  And since this task is done many times throughout the day, not being familiar with how to open a Web browser will cost...

Having unnecessary meetings can cost you a lot of time.  Not only does it cost you time, but it costs the time of the other participants of the meeting.

To solve this problem, make sure you only schedule meetings when it's necessary to do so.  And only invite people that absolutely have to be there.  That way, you'll save the time of those who don't have to be at the meeting.

Meetings can often drag out and end up wasting a lot of time.  You...

If your computer file organization is a mess, it can cost you a lot of time trying to find your files.  The time spent trying to find your files can add up.  At the time when you place a file in a folder name that makes no sense, you may think you'll remember where you put it.  But months later, you're likely to forget where you put it.  And it'll take you a while to find the file.

To organize your files, first, be sure to give your files meaningful...

If you have a lot of tasks to do or if your plate is overloaded, it's important to prioritize your tasks.  You don't necessarily need a complicated system for prioritizing your tasks.  It can be as simple as arranging your tasks in order of importance.  It's simple to do and can be applied now.

In fact, simply arranging your tasks in order of importance is the same strategy that Ivy Lee taught Charles Schwab.

The story goes that Charles Schwab wanted...

TV can be a big time waster.  If you currently watch TV, you may be losing a lot of time.  On average, Americans watch 4 hours of TV a day.  That's equivalent to 1,460 hours a year, 36.5 workweeks, about 9 work months.  That means every year, the average American loses 9 work months from watching TV.

If you stopped watching TV today, you can get a lot more done.  Imagine having an extra 9 work months.  You could use your TV time to learn a new...

To perform basic tasks on your computer such as copying and pasting, one way is to right-click your mouse and choose the button in the context menu.  You could also click “Edit” and then click “Copy” or “Paste.”  But doing it that way is slower.

A faster way is to use shortcut keys.  If you want to copy, simply press Ctrl+C.  Or if you want to cut some text, press Ctrl+X.  Doing it this way will save you a few...

If you're constantly being interrupted while you work, you're losing precious work time.  Every time you're interrupted, it takes time to get back into the task you were working on.  You'll have to figure out where you left off.  And you need to regain your last train of thought.

All those lost minutes add up over time.  It can even add up to hours.

According to a study done by Microsoft (in an article titled “The Grand Seduction of...

Whether you’re the CEO of a multi-million dollar business, a manager of a large team, a supervisor or a hard working employee, chances are there’s someone in your working life who will try to load extra things onto you. These ‘extra tasks’ are often called the ‘monkey on our back’.

Even in your family or personal friendships you can probably think of people who are good at trying to throw monkeys onto your back!

Meet the monkey!

It would be lovely if we all lived in Wonderland and had nothing to do but attend mad tea parties and play croquet all day. However the reality of...
