We live in a world of limitless potential. Opportunities wait around every corner. Every day as one business closes another 5  begin. Just as there are opportunities being exploited there are many around there laying dormant.  The problem is that too few people have the necessary entrepreneurial  spirit to find these opportunities. They somehow think that riches and success are going to just fall into our lap. If we are to make the most of the world we have to...

To keep a balanced life it is important to keep track of the things that are important to you. There are so many distractions everyday at work and at home that it is sometimes hard to remember which things are most valuable to you. A good method of keeping this in mind and remembering what your goals are is to write your own mission statement and update this frequently.

Things to write in your mission statement:

- Values you want to uphold like being honest or...

Recently, a remarkable film carrying a simple solution to any problem exploded onto the popular culture. It's called The Secret.

I happen to be a true believer in the secret. Anyone is who has read Robert Collier, W. Clement Stone, Maxwell Maltz and any number of bright, successful men who have espoused this for 50 years and more. Unfortunately, some people delight primarily in a no-work interpretation of its message. Still others warm to the airy-fairy feeling of magic.

Success is the direct outcome of dedication and willingness towards making your dreams come true. There’s no one in this world who doesn’t dream. However, there are very few who are successful in materializing their dreams. Dreaming big is easy, but it takes a lot of toiling and determination to make the dream a reality.

+Khemka" Shamit Khemka is one such person who not only dreamt big but also had the will and dedication to turn his dreams into reality. Shamit...

It’s that time again — the time when people traditionally set resolutions for the New Year. Have you noticed, though, that setting long-term goals doesn’t work? No matter how convicted you feel about your New Year’s resolutions, the more rigidly you adhere to whatever goals you’ve set for yourself, the harder it will be to reach them.

Why? Because the problem with goals is that they are made in the present, to be fulfilled in the future. But the...

The beginning of each year brings many people into the mode of creating New Year’s resolutions. But I've been thinking about resolutions lately and realized that I haven't made one in years. I never stick to them. They are usually 'broken' before January 31 anyway. That doesn't happen to goals nearly as often.

These thoughts were whirling through my head as I worked on our marketing calendar for 2009. In my opinion, there is a big difference between goals and...

When Fear Holds You Back

Dear Jane,
I’m re-taking a short seminar and then starting my own business. But something is holding me back. I know it's fear, but so what!

Good for you for recognizing that it’s fear and for not making excuses, which means you are ready to say “boo” back to fear. Here are a few suggestions you’ll find in my book, Enough is Enough!, in the chapter “Break the Spell of Fear: Make Fear Your...

Will you be one of among thousands who will make a New Year’s Resolution this year? For those of you committed to success, here are some helpful tips so that THIS year you can make your resolution a reality.

1. Write your resolution: This involves actually sitting down (or you may stand if you prefer) and thoughtfully writing down what it is you want to change.  For those of you who aren’t fond of writing, suck it up and just do it. Simply putting your...

If you read my CareerJockey.org "Love Dare article" from a year back you'll see how I dedicated 40 days last Spring to improving my marriage. It's not that it was on the rocks and in bad need of repair. I just wanted to take a good thing and make it better.

In my "Novena articleI talk about a 9 day practice I followed to help get me re-focused and balanced. There are times when I get way out of whack and I need something like this to bring me back....
