What is an apostate? An apostate is described in a dictionary as someone who abandons what they believed in, their faith or cause (Webster's Dictionary). The word apostate comes from two Greek words that mean to go away from where one stands.

Apostate testimony is generally thought to be of suspect value. Why?

There are natural reasons why people leave a group. Here are some of them.

A person could get false data on the group by a third party that turns them against...

Ever really noticed that you are alive? Notice that the chair you sit in is not alive. There is an obvious difference. But what is this thing called "life". What is life?

Life is able to control the world around it. It seems to be able to communicate. Life displays emotion, which is a reflection of life in some way.

So what is religion? Religion appears to be people trying to work out what life is, and how its works.

If I understood what life really was,...

The Dark Ages, (476–800) was when life was described as an era of ignorance, superstition, or social chaos or repression. Where truth and science were suppressed by religious dogma.

It never ceases to amaze me that, in this atomic age, so many people still believe in gods, Astrology, Numerology, Phrenology, Tarot cards, Fortune tellers and all the other rubbish. Check out James Randi and find out who for years has been offering one million dollars to anyone who can...

To say that the Catholic Church is going through hell might be an overstatement; however, maybe purgatory isn't all that easy either. Pope Benedict issued an apology to victims of sex abuse in Ireland on Saturday, and announced an investigation into parts of the Catholic Church in the country while saying that the abusers would have to answer to God. Well, that's not all that may happen here.

There is such a thing as KARMA and civil law here on earth to which the church (any...

To say that we're living in amazing times is an understatement and one that probably every generation said to one degree or another. What makes our era so rich and dynamic is the exponential warp speed through which we are traveling. Additionally, we are entering that consciousness wherein we know that we don't know;  but,  that we're going to soon!

Much of the church is coming out of their doctrinal and creedal certainties, and into the light of the unknown.

The...

When I read the Book of Acts in the New Testament, I notice a stark contrast between the gospel that the Apostles preached and the gospel that is preached in many American churches today. America is a trendy nation. It seems that for every cultural trend there's a gospel to fit that trend. How does the church react to a materialistic society? No problem! It's called the "health and wealth" gospel. And the postmodern trend? No problem! There are gospels that emphasize...

Eat and Drink in the Bible

The Bible says: But the Rabshakeh said to them "Has my master sent me to speak these words to your master and to you, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are doomed with you to eat their own dung and to drink their own urine?"

This statement is found in 2 Kings 18:27 and it is repeated in Isaiah 36:12 as follows:

2 Kings 18:27 (English Standard Version)

27But the Rabshakeh said to them "Has my master sent...

Imagine living in a magnificently beautiful setting, warm and comfortable surrounded by great bounty — life is good, you might say grand. Existence is always and forever in the bliss of now. No yearning for yesterday, no anxiety about tomorrow, no concern today. What is, is. For the ego however, everything is not even close to enough. The ego has an insatiable desire for more - more power, mastery, dominion. The ego seeks it all, for...

In the 2002 movie, The Minority Report, we discover that in the future, criminals are caught before the crimes they commit, but one of the officers in the special unit is accused of one such crime and sets out to prove his innocence. The key here though is the ability to fashion-change the future. Can we do that today?

Who is it that changes the future?

It certainly can't be the church with its conservative bias and turf-protecting traditions. Carl Jung says it this way,...

"And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth and  it grieved him at his heart" (Gen.6:6)

WHO, US?

It came to me in church one Sunday morning,

The preacher up on the pulpit,

The congregation getting fidgety

Just knowing that it is one of their sins being preached on sort of thing, you know, the usual.

We opened our bibles to Genesis 1:1, and read the whole chapter...
